VIB Mini Sephora Haul

Happy Sunday! If it’s Monday where you’re at then happy Monday!!! I went to Sephora on Friday and picked up some goodies at the VIB sale. Well, I guess if we are being honest, I didn’t pick them up myself, but my wonderful boyfriend took me shopping for our anniversary and this is what I picked up. I truly wanted the HUDA Beauty palette, but it was all sold out. I already have a large amount of palettes as it is, and I didn’t really need anything in the store, but what the heck – I was being treated! I’m happy with my selection and I used all the products today. Keep reading to see my final look with them and my opinions!

Apr̬s Ski Glow Collection: Eye Lights Palette Р$45.00

This is such a cute palette, and it’s a lot larger than it seems in the photos. I like the huge mirror on it, and I used it to apply my makeup today. I am such a huge fan of large mirrors on small palettes because I can hold it really close to my face and not have the pan cause to much issues. This is my second Becca purchase, with the first one being the Chrissy Tiegen face palette, so I haven’t had a chance to try the Becca eye shadows (until now).

I was really impressed with the pigmentation. Finger swatches are amazing, and applying them with the brush is good, as well. I used the maroon shade in this palette to blend out my cut crease into the outer eye. These are shimmery shades, and I’m not sure if I would use these colors for transitioning. I think these are better for a cut crease color or blending a matte into a shimmer.

ColourPop Golden State of Mind Palette – $26.00

I was so sad about the HUDA beauty not being available, that I was kind of walking with my head down, and I looked and saw this sitting on the shelf. It was the last one, so I picked up the sample palette to see why it was almost gone and O M G!!!!!!!!!! I was able to swatch a pan with my finger and drag down the color across my wrist with FULL pigmentation. I was shocked. This is the first time I have ever touched anything from ColourPop and I was impressed. Safe to say that the last palette came home with me.

Now, I’m going to tell you the truth here which is that you need to use Fix+ with this palette – or whatever you use yourself to wet your shadows. I put my brush in and got nothing. I was so sad. I tried one pat and then two pats with my brush and still nothing. I took my handy Fix+ and sprayed it into my colors and it sucked up that liquid like a sponge. When a shadow sucks up liquid like that, it is a good sign and you know it will fully pigmented. It was a whole different shadow and it became so creamy on my lids! Pick this one up if you have a chance. It is decently priced.

Today, I used the Purple shade and Orange shade for my cut crease.

Fenty Beauty Highlight Stix in shade Confettii – $25.00

If you lilies have been reading my blog for a while, you know how much I don’t trust highlighting sticks on my makeup. They are dangerous on a full face and I would advise not to just slick one of these bad boys on your glam look until you know it’s power.

I have been after this color since the Fenty release and I finally found it hidden deep in the Sephora inside JC Penny that everyone forgets about. I was so excited, I almost started crying! I have heard nothing but raving reviews about these highlighting sticks so I was ready for my chance to glow with Rihanna. But….

Fenty, Fenty, Fenty… what I truly wish you would have done with this color was make it into a powder. I slicked it on my face and luckily it didn’t take off too much of my makeup but my foundation did end up all over the stick (UGH!). Since the foundation was mixing with the stick, the highlight was not so much a highlight but almost like a matte purple. Ewwwwwww…. So I went to the other side of my face which was 100% makeup free and OH MY GOSH IT WAS SOOOO PIGMENTED!!!!! It was exactly what I saw on my arm when I swatched in the store numerous times before. My next attempt to try to recreate at least some of this pigmentation was to take my highlighting fan brush and brushing over the top of the stick. This worked really well and my face was finally starting to glow. I also tried dabbing it onto my skin with my finger, but the fan brush method worked so much better.

I don’t think I would buy another highlighting stick from this line or any other line to be honest. I just never am satisfied with the outcome. I want this highlight in powder form dang it!!!!!!!!! Please, Princess RiRi!!!!!!

Here are the swatches on my arm for you –

As usual, I wanted to give you a look at this color with/without Fix+ and flash/without flash.

And for my look with these products today –

Mac Buys

_DSC0015

I did a fun little haul with Mac with two lipsticks and the clay pot! I haven’t purchased much of anything makeup wise from Mac in a few years. I tried their foundation and I just didn’t like it as much as everyone else did. It made me super oily, but I really wanted to like it. I also have branched out to other brands for lipstick and concealer to cut my brows or use an eye shadow base. I decided to step  back into Mac and try out other products rather than just the magic Fix+! Let me give you my reviews of these three Mac pick ups!

Pro Longwear Paint Pot in color Soft Orche- $22.00

OKAY, I’m going to start off with my favorite of the three which is this little pot of wonders. It cuts my eyebrows really well, but I actually use it for my eye shadow base. It gets the colors to really come out and pop. It doesn’t crease at all, and it still allows me to have a flawless blend. I chose this particular color because of how matte it is and the shade is similar to my concealer. I know that this is originally to be used as eye shadow, but hot dang, this is some good stuff to hold your pigmented eye shadows. I give this a rating of 10/10 all the way. I will be purchasing this again once I run out. If you want to see how my eye shadows hold place with this pot, keep reading 🙂

Mac Matte Lipstick in shade Russian Red and Velvet Teddy – $17.50 ea

I originally just wanted Velvet Teddy but I saw Russian Red and knew I had to have it! I love these lipsticks so much and they are the most smoothest lipsticks I’ve tried. They go on easily and don’t bleed out. On top of it, they are long lasting! I only had to reapply once of twice a day. Teddy is a pink shade with purple undertones. It is a true nude and it even looks good on my skin tone, which is a sandy tan. The Russian Red also doesn’t wash me out and make me look crazy. I believe that these shades are good for any skin tone. I gave you images of flash and no flash with these two lippies. As you can see, there is hardly any shine to them, which is what you want when you are looking at matte lipsticks. 10/10 would buy again!

Now, for the fun part, my two favorite eye looks I used with the Mac paint pot as an eye shadow base –

Fenty Trophy Wife Highlight

Fenty Beauty Trophy Wife Highlight – $34.00

Ahhhh, it’s finally in my hands. The highlight I have L-I-T-E-R-A-L-L-Y dreamed about (not an exaggeration, real dreams have occurred). The Trophy Wife highlighter is so beautiful, and gold heaven for my face. I have never seen a highlight so pigmented before. I believe this highlight can be used for your face, eyes, and even body highlight.

The texture is soft and almost creamy. It’s not a powder highlight at all. I love how with one finger swipe, I get amazing pigmentation. We all know how much I love my Fix+, so I had to test it out with that too, and I was impressed with and without the help of it. Currently, I have some on my face that I GENTLY tapped my fan brush into, and it actually looks like an everyday glow I could wear. If you want a bright shine, then you would probably use your finger or put tap your brush two to three times. A little does go a long way, so however you want to use it, I’m sure you will find how you want to play with it.

I haven’t tried any of the other highlights from the line, or any other product from the line. Have you? Let me know what you think.

Purple Haze

BH Cosmetics Solar Flare Palette – $15.99

Hi my beautiful friends! I know I haven’t been up to date with my blog in a couple of weeks, but I have been busy adopting two kitties, and trying to juggle work and makeup. If you haven’t followed my Instagram, you should. I keep up with that better. My Instagram is Makeup by Tigerlily.

This look is a look I call Purple Haze. It has such a fun vibe to it, and it feels so feminine to me. It was fun to create, but I had to try TWO times to get this right. Especially with picking the colors to really blend perfectly. I used BH Cosmetics to get this look, and my favorite jewels to line the cut crease. I wanted to only use one palette for this look and I succeeded. This look was created by BH Cosmetics Solar Flare palette. It is super affordable and such high pigmentation.

The three colors I used for this were –

  • Gamma Ray
  • Galactic
  • Energy

I am always such a big fan of any BH Cosmetic items. They are always high quality for a low price. Their website is always having great deals, which is when I do my makeup hauls from them. If you haven’t, go ahead and check them out!

Thank you for reading. I will keep up better with this blog with more detailed posts (again) coming soon!!

Party Queen

BH Cosmetics Wild & Alluring palette – $8.00

BH Cosmetics Take Me Back to Brazil 2nd Edition palette – $16.99

BH Cosmetics Galaxy Chic palette – $15.99

BH Cosmetics Backlight Highlight palette – $16.99

Urban Decay Nocturnal palette – $29

I can’t stop with the Pink. It’s everywhere to me! Funny thing is, I didn’t even use any Pink to create this. It just happened. I used to think that bright colors would be hard to work with, but I have been proving myself wrong. I will let you know though, I have been having some difficulties with Red eye shadow. I didn’t realize how hard that color could be to blend but today, I thought I would try a simple trick. A trick I could have tried all along but snoozed on. My trick was using Red liquid lipstick as the eye shadow!! I put about 5 dots in an outline just on my outer corners of my eye and blended it with a small brush. I then, topped the blended out lipstick with red eye shadow. SO EASY.

For this look, I used 5 different palettes, and a majority of them are BH Cosmetics. I use BH Cosmetics so much because they are affordable and such high quality. I have never come across a brand like BH Cosmetics because of how high end like their products are, and all of them work like magic with and without Fix+.

To finish off the look, I added 5 gems on both inner corner of my eyes to really make it pop. To place these on my eyes, I used NYX Glitter glue and really sharp ended tweezers. I will have to say that the NYX glue was not made to hold up heavy gems like these, and can be difficult to place. Once you have them on, I would advise not to touch them in any way or form and let the drying do its thing.

Here is a quick written tutorial for you to recreate –

  1. Place scotch tape along the side of your eyes where you want your cut crease to end.
  2. Place concealer on your eye lids and blend well.
  3. Take your white color eye base and pat down on your eyelids. Use two coats.
  4. Use any Red liquid lipstick (I chose a bright fire red), and place 5 dots like a side V on your outer crease to create your wing. A little goes a long way.
  5. Blend out with a small stiff brush, and tap into skin.
  6. Take a fluffy eye shadow brush into Red eye shadow and gently press into the Red lipstick. I took the Red from the Take Me Back to Brazil palette.
  7. Take a Purple/Red eye shadow shade and begin to blend inward. I took the shade right above the Red in the TMB2B palette.
  8. Next, take a true Purple and blend from the second shade inward. You want to make sure you blend these colors well to get a gradient look. I took the Purple from the Wild & Alluring palette.
  9. Take a light Purple and blend. This won’t take much color as you should be more towards the inner of your eyelid now. I took shade Flash from the Nocturnal palette.
  10. Find a frosty Purple and dab into your inner eyelid. Blend into the corners. I took the shade Cosmic from Galaxy Chic palette.
  11. Take a Purple highlight and dab into corners, on top of the frosty purple to really make it pop. I took the Illusion highlight from Blacklight Highlight palette. I also used this color to hightlight my face.
  12. This look only called for black eyeliner on the waterline!
  13. Take your previous Red and Purple to place the eyeshadows under your water line.  Blend into the frosty Purple.
  14. Take 5 small gems and place them into a triangle form on the inner corner of your eyes.
  15. Use statement eyelashes for this look. Make it really come out.
  16. And you are done

Cool Girl Glitter

Hi Friends! In the previous post, I wrote about some glitters I got in the mail. Well, I thought I’d try out my first look with the purple/blue glitter set, and I must say, WOW! These stayed on easily with NYX Glitter Glue, and it was tedious to get each one on, but it was worth it. I like to call this look Cool Girl. I would also like to note that I know it’s not perfect because this was my first attempt at a true cut crease.

I used the BH Cosmetics Take Me To Brazil palette for the main colors, skipped the eyeliner, and put on some falsies. I paired it with a dark pink nude because I have no purple lipsticks, unfortunately!

Here is the complete look –

I would write you a tutorial, but the palette doesn’t have names for the colors. I was thinking about starting an official YouTube channel to show off these looks a lot better. What do you think?

Glitter explosion!

Glitter 7

Nicole Diary Glitter 8 pack – $8.99

Look what came in the mail today! I wanted to start getting into glitter makeup looks, and this looks like a great starter pack for me. It was extremely inexpensive for this pack, which also makes it a great starter pack. If I mess up, I won’t feel too bad for wasting some glitter. It came with 8 different colors ranging from gold to mermaid colors. They all look so beautiful, I can’t wait to show everyone the looks I come up with from this kit. I took some close ups pictures of all 8 to show you.

I did notice the two purple and blue glitter packs look similar to each other, but one may contain more blue than the other. Maybe it was a packing mistake, or maybe it is how it really is supposed to be. Also, the more fine glitter was a bit messy in the packaging, but what can you expect? It’s a glitter fiasco.

What color is your favorite out of all of them? Mine has to be the red, pink, blue toned one.

Hope you enjoyed looking at these glitters as much as I do.

Tarte Skin Twinkle VOL. II

Tarte Skin Twinkle Volume II – $42.00

I love the name of this highlight palette – Skin Twinkle!!! This palette was such a good purchase since we all know how I live for glowing skin. I get four shades, which all work with my medium skin tone, and I think that they could work for any skin tone. The texture of these highlights are almost a creamy feeling on your fingers. They are so smooth and glide on easily. I usually apply this with my Mac 224 brush, which is what I use on all my applications of highlights.

I just want this palette on my skin 24/7 because the name of it is not deceiving. Tarte Cosmetics always comes out with brilliant products that are great quality and best of all, cruelty free. These are the first highlights that I have tried from there and was not let down.

Let’s get to the palette!

The four shades you get are –

  • Daylight – a pink pearl shade
  • Skylight – a pearl shade
  • Spotlight – medium bronze shade (favorite one)
  • Candlelight – a true bronze shade

This palette can be buildable for a more glam look but also, it can be used for an everyday glow with one swipe. It really only takes 2 to 3 swipes for it to become extremely pigmented. As you may already know, I do use my Fix+ with this in addition to it (I am just addicted to the glow!). But I’m going to be fair to you all, and show you these swatches with and without my handy Fix+

Here are my swatches –

Without Fix+

No Fix Swatch

With Fix+ (No flash vs. With Flash)

Can we saaaaaayyy B-E-A-U-TIFUL!!!!!!! Look at that shine and glow just on my arm alone.

I won’t forget to mention the scent of this product, which is almost like a vanilla. Maybe that’s just me, but there is definitely a scent to it. If you have this product, what kind of scent do you think it is? Comment and let me know!

Overall, I would suggest this highlight palette to anyone who is looking for a variety of shades to light up their life. I hope you try it out, or maybe you already have!

Tarte Skin Twinkle VOL. II

Melisa Michelle Palette

Melissa Michelle Makeup Palette – $20.00

Melisa Michelle is a great YouTube makeup blogger, and shes so great to watch. I was excited to hear about her new collab with Ulta, and was eager to get my hands on this palette. I always love supporting makeup brand collaborations with YouTubers’ because that is where I thrive to be. But for now, I am just a makeup lover blogging about what I love most! Currently, if you decide to pick this palette up at Ulta, you get a free 12 piece Ulta Makeup bag full of goodies. And you seriously can’t beat the price of this. I mean, $20 is such a steal.

This is my first try in an Ulta Beauty Collection, and I am so impressed with the quality of their products.

Now, let’s get to this amazing palette!

Here are the swatches of every color –

Melisa Michelle Swatches
Eye shadow, Highlighter, and Blush

The first four eye shadows in this palette is what made me jump to the purchase. When I did my swatches at the store, I was in shock on how pigmented they were with one swipe. The swatches you see on my arm are all one swipe because I wanted to be honest with you when showing you the true pigmentation of these colors. As you can tell, the more matte colors don’t give off that much color. The lighter colors barely showed up on my arm, but maybe if I try it with Fix+ and some white eye shadow base, something will show up. I haven’t tried them all on my eyes yet, but I did try a look out with this palette, so keep reading to see it! Another few notes about these eye shadows are that they are so soft to the touch and easy to blend.

The highlight on this was B L I N D I N G!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn’t expect so much color by itself, but it did it. The swatch on my arm gives it no justice to what it looked like on my face. I applied with a Mac 224 brush and gave my cheek bones some light.

The blush in the palette is another swatch that had no justice. This was such a cute light pink on my cheeks. It wasn’t a natural finish, but it wasn’t a too glam finish either. It also didn’t fade on my cheeks throughout the time wearing it.

Melisa Michelle Lipstick
Matte Liquid Lipstick

The matte lipstick that is in this set is called Scandy, and it is a dark pink nude. On my lips, it came out a lot darker than this swatch and was almost a dark brown pink. A pro to this lipstick it that it is extremely long lasting. I couldn’t believe it, and how well it almost matched up to Kat Von D’s lippies staying power. The one thing I did not like was the wand of the stick. It is not stiff, and it has more of a wobble to it. It was hard for me to create a fuller lip look with this wand, and that was such a downfall.

This is my up close shot of my makeup look with the Melisa Michelle palette. I used the colors Bing Bing, Teresita and Kades.

This was my full look including highlight, blush and eye shadow –

Me and Melisa

I hope you enjoyed reading this review, and I hope you pick up the palette. It is such a great deal for good quality beauty.
